Appian World 2014 was held in Washington, D.C. last week (April 30 – May 2), and several ATS Team Members were in attendance.  ATS participated in the partner forum, hosted a booth presenting its Customer Service Solution, CTI (Computer Telephony Integration), and attended several keynote presentations and breakout sessions.

The primary take away message from Appian World ’14:

The Appian BPM product is surging in popularity, due to its innovative technology

  • Appian BPM is being purchased rapidly by customers as the #1 BPM product in the industry.
  • Clients are rapidly building applications at a rate of 14 applications on average, per client/organization.
  • Appian is the biggest innovator in the leaders’ quadrant of the BPM space.
  • They have been investing in cloud and mobile BPM for years and now the market is responding.

Appian brought a broad spectrum of speakers to present new ideas and to inspire attendees to utilize Appian’s exciting possibilities in BPM.  Two standout speakers were Appian CEO, Matt Calkins, and Gartner’s Managing VP & Fellow, Daryl Plummer.  Calkins spoke about what drives IT and how Appian achieves its mission “to power the modern enterprise through an integrated work platform,” while Plummer discussed how to use the “Nexus of Forces” (mobility, social, cloud and data) to your advantage in enterprise IT.

At the ATS booth, there was a lot of interest in our CTI Customer Service Solution, developed in partnership with VisionPointSystems.  According to Greg Johnston, VP of Technology at ATS, “The attendees were very impressed with our innovative CTI solution and asked a lot of questions about where we see this being used. Our answer was “everywhere.” The majority of companies have a support services section or call center that can leverage our solution.”  Read more about the Customer Service Solution in Thursday’s blog!

Jason Hairston, ATS Director of Strategy and Solutions, thought Appian World gave him “insight and a clear vision on how to grow the ATS Appian practice with Appian’s success.”  Getting to speak directly with Appian’s leadership provided a view into the company’s outlook for the future, allowing ATS to align with this direction in our own planning strategies.

The only thing on the Appian World wish list that ATS Team Members didn’t see was a session or two about how to best adopt BPM from the organizational point of view.  Perhaps this will be added to the 2015 Appian World agenda.  We are already looking forward to next year’s event!
